As human beings, we love sharing and hearing stories, and they have stuck with us in different formats throughout the ages. Why? Because stories stick, they create a sense of connection and they make it easier for people to assimilate information and engage.
All of the above is exactly what salespeople need to successfully create rapport, offer value and close deals.
Of course, as a salesperson, you won't bring your storyteller hat to every negotiation and start reading novel after novel of content. Sales stories have a slightly different nature and are only used during key strategic moments.
