Mimecast's Nick Saunders' Sales Enablement Foreword pt1

2 min read

Ordinary people matter in getting to the moon.

For our whitepaper on the future of Sales Enablement, Mimecast's Nick Saunders was kind enough to grace us with an accompanying foreword on sales enablement, centered around the moon program of the 1960s. Here's the first part.

Ordinary, hard-working, inspired and dedicated people who are willing to work tirelessly behind the scenes and be absolutely committed to playing a part, however small in reaching the moon. Mission Control was specifically staffed with people from ordinary backgrounds, with ordinary skills. The common trait amongst all of them was the ability to overcome adversity, by being curious, committed to the task and a deep faith in achieving impossible things – sound familiar?

In enablement you need ordinary people to do amazing work led by inspirational leaders. The leaders help us start our moonshot by providing a purpose and help clarify the reasons why it’s important for us to organize around the goal. Our astronauts (salespeople and sales managers), need to take what we (ordinary people – enablers) equip and them with, to land successfully in front of the customer and run a successful “mission”.
