2 min read

Episode 39 of The SaaS Sales Performance Podcast saw Scott Howland of Google come on to the podcast to talk about his career journey.

For the full podcast, check out the episode here:

In this episode, we cover...

  1. What led him to starting** his own podcast**.
  2. The value of organising business meet-ups and round tables.
  3. His path from **music college **to Google.

Scott Howland recently took on the role of Security Sales Specialist at Google. Until recently, Scott was Head of Sales at Zephr.

Here are some of the key insights from the conversation.

  • Failure can provide crucial learning opportunities.

”One of the big learning opportunities I had was: you can fail. But fail fast. Learn. Pick yourself back up and dust yourself off to go again.”

  • Don’t compare your success to other people.

”You see and hear about the success stories. You hear about people making a million dollars in a year, doing these multi-million dollar deals. But you don’t hear about the grind, the extra work that has gone into that. You don’t hear about all the times they failed.”

  • Communication has been completely changed by the shift to remote working.

_”There’s a lot of different Slack and WhatsApp groups out there. I have to have them on constant mute until I need to go into them. But I also think that these groups can be very beneficial for people - to keep in touch in a remote environment.” _
